This was such a fantastic event–I was absolutely elated when Amanda reached out to me to display some of her work in her shop! This was the first ever Double Mirror Art Crawl on East Carson Street, and getting that phone call was so validating to me as an artist! We spend time pouring our energy into pieces we hope people can identify with and appreciate, and then to have someone request to have our work displayed in an art crawl opening–the first one, no less!–it’s an intense feeling of pride, feeling recognized, accomplishment and…nerves! After the initial wave of “YEEES!” had settled, I kicked into high gear, doing five shoots in one week and printing off large prints to have on display. Some of my lovely friends even made the trek down to see me in person, and I also met a bunch of other artists who work in many different mediums–rappers, potters, dancers, and painters. This was a great event put on, and it brought so many people together. I’d love to send a gracious thank-you to Amanda who hosted me in her wonderful shop, Le Petit Chocolat, and she’s an artist herself with her baked goods and artisan chocolates! The South Side is a world of art and creativity to explore–keep up with Double Mirror to attend the crawls in the future and see for yourself!
